The best rosters in the minor leagues

Minor league baseball's opening day was last week, and Eric Longenhagen has laid out where the top 10 prospects in each organization have been assigned. Today Keith Law highlights eight rosters in particular that are loaded with top prospects, as well as a few others he'd like to see live.

1. Hartford Yard Goats
Rockies' Double-A affiliate
Eastern League

Top 100 prospects: David Dahl (58), Ryan McMahon (62), Raimel Tapia (78)

Other significant prospects: Kyle Freeland, Antonio Senzatela, Dillon Thomas, German Marquez

The new-look Yard Goats -- formerly the New Britain Rock Cats -- brought the minors' most talented roster into their inaugural season, with three top-100 prospects along with three of the Rockies' best young arms, with former first-rounder Kyle Freeland and recently acquired German Marquez on the pitching staff. Dillon Thomas was a sleeper of mine coming into the year, as he always has had power and bat speed but retooled his swing and approach this winter.
