Saturday's high school All-America Game a sloppy affair

Saturday's Under Armour All-America Game, held at Wrigley Field, was a disappointing event, as most of the pitchers struggled to throw strikes (there were 16 walks in the game) and there was a lot of sloppy play on the field, including a wild pitch that resulted in three runs scoring. With many players having off days, I'm going to just focus on the handful who did something positive.

• Hometown favorite Cooper Johnson, a catcher from Carmel Catholic High School, was more than just a token local kid, showing promise on both sides of the ball. He averaged 1.91 on his throws to second base, one of which back-picked a runner (a welcome move to keep the game moving along). A right-handed hitter, he has good balance at the plate with quick hand acceleration, lining out on a fastball and hitting a bloop single by staying on a curveball from a right-hander.
