Scouting notes: Dodgers' Yusniel Diaz looks sharp, Tate's delivery improved

I finally saw outfielder Yusniel Diaz, the Los Angeles Dodgers' $15 million free-agent signing from Cuba this winter and the No. 77 prospect in baseball, for three plate appearances over the past few days, two of them against some lefty named Chris Sale. Those two at-bats were excellent, especially given that Sale's stuff and arm slot are so tough for hitters to pick up. Diaz showed tremendous bat speed, lining a single over the second baseman on a low-90s fastball away.

Diaz looks highly athletic, with quick-twitch actions and good running speed, and a swing that looks geared for all-fields contact right now rather than big power.
