This year's MLB Futures Game will take place at San Diego's Petco Park on Sunday, July 10, and the initial rosters were just revealed this afternoon (here's the U.S. roster, and here's the World roster. While they're likely to change due to promotions and injuries before the game starts, here are my thoughts on who's on the rosters and who's missing.

Top prospects

The top prospect in the Futures Game was sixth overall in my top 25 rankings update last month: outfielder Andrew Benintendi, the Red Sox's first-round pick last year. He's having a strong month in Double-A after a torrid start to the year in high-A in his first full season in the minors. My No. 7 prospect, Cardinals right-hander Alex Reyes, probably will be the World team's starter, as both its best prospect and probably the guy on the staff with the best stuff, although Nationals starter Reynaldo Lopez is pretty close in the second regard. Lopez was just promoted to Triple-A on Monday after punching out 55 batters in his last 32 2/3 innings for Double-A Harrisburg.

Four other prospects from my top 25 will appear in the game.
