          Prospects who lost the most ground in 2017

          Sometimes prospects don't work out. It could be because they're young, they get hurt, they don't make adjustments or they just weren't as good as everyone thought. Here are a handful of prospects from my preseason top 100 who took a step backward in 2017.

          (Preseason rankings were from January.)

          Not included: top prospects who missed the year because of injury, such as St. Louis' Alex Reyes, San Diego's Anderson Espinoza, Oakland's James Kaprielian, Miami's Braxton Garrett and Minnesota's Alex Kirilloff, all top 100 prospects who had Tommy John surgery.
