The 2017 Futures Game rosters are out, and as usual they're a combination of potential superstars and missed opportunities.

The rosters feature a bevy of prospects from my top 25 from April: Amed Rosario (No. 1), Michael Kopech (No. 5), Victor Robles (No. 6), Rafael Devers (No. 7), Eloy Jimenez (No. 9), Nick Senzel (No. 10), Yoan Moncada (No. 13), Francisco Mejia (No. 14), Brendan Rodgers (No. 17) and Alex Verdugo (No. 23). (Gleyber Torres, No. 2, is out for the year, and Cody Bellinger, No. 3, is kind of a big deal in the big leagues.) Many other top prospects belong here but weren't included, often because their parent clubs didn't want to send them, a problem MLB has encountered every year since creating this event.

The World team features players born in Brazil, Haiti, the Bahamas, Panama, Colombia and Honduras in addition to the usual countries, including three high-ceiling prospects from Cuba. The World offense is pretty loaded in general, with Rosario at short as well as two of the best offensive prospects in the minors at third base, Devers and Vlad Guerrero Jr. The starting outfield should be Atlanta's Ronald Acuna, now in Double-A at age 19; Jimenez, the Cubs' top prospect, slugging nearly .500 as a 20-year-old in pitcher-friendly Myrtle Beach; and either Dodgers outfielder Verdugo or Nationals outfielder Robles. Acuna is Venezuelan, Verdugo was born in the U.S. to a Mexican-born father and the others I mentioned are all from the Dominican Republic.
