Law: Jaime Garcia to Twins is win for both sides

Jaime Garcia, 31, was 4-7 with a 4.30 ERA in 18 starts in his first season with the Braves. Jimmy Simmons/Icon Sportswire

The Minnesota Twins are still close enough to a playoff spot in this building year that I can understand the team's desire to add pieces rather than trading some away -- even though the latter is probably the better long-term strategy.

That said, adding Jaime Garcia for a low-level prospect is the best kind of move they could make, and they didn't give up Nick Gordon or Fernando Romero, two of their top prospects. All while the Atlanta Braves continued what they've been doing for years, adding another prospect to their stockpile of high-ceiling young arms.
