The Phillies were rumored to be interested in adding an infield bat, regularly linked to Manny Machado (often with absurd prospect names attached to the deals), but instead they settled for a second-tier option by adding bat-first Asdrubal Cabrera, paying with one of their better-known pitching prospects who had been passed by better young arms in the Phillies' loaded system.
